The chart below shows the production and consumption of rice in seven different countries in 2008. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Introduction
The bar chart illustrates how many tonnes of rice seven nations in Asia manufactured and consumed in the year 2008.
Overall
Overall, the production and consumption of rice in China was by far the highest of all countries while Japan recorded the smallest figures.
Body paragraph 1
In terms of China, India, Vietnam, and Thailand, the quantity of rice produced was higher than that eaten. More specifically, the production figure for China was approximately 15 million tonnes, followed by 13 million in India, 4 million in Vietnam and 5 million in Thailand. In contrast, Chinese people consumed 14 million tonnes, which was 2 million more than Indians. Vietnamese ate half of the amount produced, at 2 million, while Thailanders consumed around 3 million.
Body paragraph 2
Regarding the other three regions, people in Bangladesh and Indonesia ate more than they harvested. The production and consumption numbers were 6 million and 7 million in Bangladesh and 7 million and 8 million in Indonesia. It is interesting to notice that the Japanese just ate what they produced, at 2 million tonnes.
