Many animals are endangered. Some people argue that we should only protect animals that are useful to human beings.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Introduction
It can be said that animal conservation has become a common desire, but there are diverse opinions on what species should be protected. Some people claim that it would be better to conserve the fauna that brings benefits to humans. Although the considerations behind this notion are understandable, I do not support their view.
Body paragraph 1
In every sense, humans have the obligation to protect animal species as many as possible, instead of only considering their utility. The most important reason is that every species of wildlife plays a role in maintaining the balance of life on Earth, which means that the loss of any species can affect us directly or indirectly. For example, a seemingly obscure type of insect may well be the main source of food for an equally unknown bird species which happened to be an important pollinator for crops. In a word, the integrity of the ecosystem depends on not just a few members of the animalia. Besides, it would be arrogant to consider animals as dispensable, even when they seem to offer low value for people, because human activities are the main reasons for their extinction. People have been killing these creatures for food, for furs or cutting down on their habitats, making us responsible for their situation.
Body paragraph 2
It is undeniable that animals have been vanishing at a much faster rate than before, making it impossible to conserve all of them. Some argue that the task requires so much effort that there are inadequate resources to address other human issues, such as poverty. These people also believe that many animals die out not because of human intervention but natural selection, which makes the effort unnecessary. However, if animal conservation is merely aimed at usefulness, more energies would have to be wasted on deciding the extent to which a species can be valuable. In some cases, this viewpoint can become an excuse to shirk the responsibility of human beings.
Conclusion
To conclude, it is not justifiable to save only the few species that have a visible effect on humans. On the contrary, we are doing so much damage to plants and animals that working for their conservation has become a necessity.
