Ý chính của đề: Ngày càng có nhiều người không còn xem tin tức bằng cách đọc báo hoặc xem TV nữa. Thay vào đó, họ tìm hiểu về tin tức toàn cầu thông qua Internet. Đây là sự phát triển tích cực hay tiêu cực?
Câu hỏi này lấy từ bài kiểm tra IELTS Writing vào ngày 3 tháng 4 năm 2021 và có thể sẽ xuất hiện nhiều lần trong năm nay. Độ khó của câu hỏi không cao lắm, thí sinh có thể dựa vào những lập luận liên quan đến chủ đề khoa học công nghệ như tính hiệu quả, tiện lợi, nội dung phong phú, v..v. Đồng thời, các bạn có thể liên tưởng đến những đặc điểm không tốt của tin tức trên Internet trong cuộc sống hàng ngày, chẳng hạn như khả năng sai sự thật, thông tin sai lệch,v.v. Đây cũng có thể coi là tác động của Internet đối với ngành truyền thông truyền thống.
Để trả lời câu hỏi này, người viết có thể triển khai theo hướng cân nhắc cả 2 mặt tích cực và tiêu cực của xu hướng, hoặc chỉ ủng hộ một quan điểm (tích cực hoặc tiêu cực) đều được.
Ý tưởng viết bài:
- Mở bài: Diễn giải đề bài và giải thích quan điểm cá nhân của bạn. VD: Bạn cho rằng đây là một diễn biến tích cực.
- Thân bài thứ nhất: Thảo luận rằng việc tiếp nhận tin tức qua Internet nhanh hơn và rẻ hơn so với các phương pháp truyền thống như báo hay TV. Ngoài ra, Internet còn giúp cho mọi người có thể đọc tin tức bất cứ lúc nào và ở bất kỳ đâu, đồng thời tin tức còn được cập nhật nhanh chóng và kịp thời, giúp người dùng luôn truy cập được tin mới nhất.
- Thân bài thứ hai: Thảo luận rằng tin tức xuất hiện trên Internet có nội dung phong phú hơn và dưới nhiều những góc độ khác nhau. Thêm vào đó, người dùng còn có thể tìm hiểu một số tin tức mới lạ mà báo chí và đài truyền hình bỏ qua.
- Kết bài: Một lần nữa cho thấy việc chuyển từ xem tin tức trên báo chí truyền hình sang Internet là một bước phát triển tích cực.

In recent decades, how people access news has undergone a substantial change from newspaper and television to the internet, and I firmly believe this is a positive development.
One of the major benefits of such change is that news now can be read in a cheaper and faster way. People no longer need to turn on the TV at home or purchase printed newspapers in a store; instead, they are able to know what is happening in the world by simply using their smartphones or tablets basically anytime and anywhere, be it during commuting or in the bed before sleep. Additionally, readers also could enjoy the speed and immediacy of online news, as it can be posted online as soon as it is ready rather than published once a day as the printed versions do. The constant updating of a news story also means people can follow the development easily. In this way, information acquisition has become an effortless activity with improved effectiveness.
Another positive that online news reading has to offer is the broad range of content. This means people can compare different sources of information, which not only verifies credibility but also garners sufficient information to avoid bias and misunderstanding. For instance, people could gather accounts or videos on a criminal offense from different perspectives for a more comprehensive understanding rather than being misled by some news agencies that tend to omit or distort information. The abundant information also means smaller news items that are not covered by traditional press or broadcasts could be available to keep readers more informed.
In conclusion, although the internet as the medium for news reading develops at some expense of the traditional news industry, I would argue this trend can have a huge positive impact considering the more effective information circulation and the massive amount of content available for news readers.
