Đây là câu hỏi dạng “Opinion”, yêu cầu thí sinh phải bày tỏ rõ ràng quan điểm cá nhân của mình. Quan điểm của tác giả trong bài là “totally disagree”, vì vậy trong hai đoạn chính của bài, mỗi đoạn sẽ trình bày lý do hỗ trợ quan điểm này.

Tất nhiên, thí sinh cũng có thể chọn viết theo quan điểm “totally agree”, “partly agree” hoặc “partly disagree”.

Introdution

There are those who opine that being academically successfuldepends mainly on teachers’ excellent instruction rather than learners’ personal capabilities. Personally, I totally disagree with the statement because students with a lower ability cannot achieve high marks in assessments and exams despite the provision of good teaching; meanwhile, academic success also relies on learners’ other attributes.

Body

The primary reason supporting my stance is that students with low literacy and numeracy skills may find it difficult to gain remarkable academic results even if they are taught by sound teaching. For example, in professionally designed English literature lessons, some students may still be unlikely to annotate and analyze a poem after the teacher has utilized scaffolding to demonstrate approaches and presented examples. Similarly, mathematics teachers who give highly logical and structured lectures cannot help students to solve questions due to their inability to comprehend concepts and do calculations.

Another important point I consider relevant is that there is more to students’ success in learning than good teaching; in fact, many other individual abilities matter. To achieve high-level academic success, students are required to do extensive research. For instance, business students need to deeply explore information from multifarious resources about what motivates a country to develop, how its expansion is influencing the world, and what can be drawn upon and applied in the future, which may not be fully covered in class. Also, students’ persistence is decisive because this trait keeps them making progress and helps them to outperform their peers in the end.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I have strong opposition to the view that compared to students’ individual ability, good teaching plays a more significant role in helping them with their academic success. For one thing, no matter how well teachers can deliver their classes, students without learning abilities will eventually fail; for another, students’ abilities, such as research skills and perseverance contribute more to their success in learning.
