In some countries, some criminal trials in law courts are shown on television so that the general public can watch them. Do you think the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Introduction
Nowadays, people in some parts of the world are provided with opportunities to watch the determination of guilt or innocence in the law courts on TV. Although there are some drawbacks, I personally believe that the merits are more noticeable.
Body Paragraph 1
One of the many advantages is that a telecast of criminal trials in the courtroom can be an effective approach to deter potential criminals, which reduces the crime rate. Some people, especially youngsters, violate the law without realizing the consequences of doing so. If there are specific television programmes showing criminal trials, this group of people can acquire some knowledge of the law; then the chances of them becoming involved in illegal activities will be remote, meaning that the number of people committing crimes will decrease.
Body Paragraph 2
Another key benefit is that the fairness of trials is likely to be ensured. Since the entire trial process is publicized on TV, the public can supervise whether the judges are fulfilling their obligations to deliver fair rulings and avoid any wrongly convicted cases. In contrast, if people are not informed of what is happening in the court, wrongful convictions may occur when judges and other related officials are bribed.
Body Paragraph 3
On the other hand, public exposure to criminal trials may result in dangers, including the adverse impacts on the defendants’ family members and their own after-prison life. If criminals are reported on television, their names and appearance may be known by the general public. As a result, their family can be gossiped about by other people, causing them to endure a hard time in daily life, and meanwhile, the defendants will find it difficult to seek employment once finishing their jail terms because they may be recognized by employers.
Conclusion
In conclusion, my firm opinion is that the positive outcomes of showing people the process of sentencing criminals exceed the negative ones. After all, not only can this help decrease the crime rate, but also guarantee the result of trials. It is true that convicts’ and their family’s lives can be negatively influenced, but this may not be a concern anymore with an alias given to criminals and their faces blurred.
