Bài viết mẫu IELTS Writing Task 2 dạng Opinion Essay
Introduction
Collecting taxes dates back to ancient civilizations, yet some people claim that the money they have earned should be kept to themselves rather than turned to taxes to the nation. From my perspective, this idea fails to recognize the role of taxation, and I disagree with it.
Body Paragraph 1
First, taxation is the key to financing public services and infrastructure that constitute the basic needs of individuals, such as healthcare and transport. For instance, public education is a cornerstone of societal development and economic progress, but without sufficient funding, the quality of education would decline, leading to a less competitive workforce. Therefore, if people refuse to pay taxes and shoulder the collective responsibility, a country cannot function properly and support the overall well-being of the populace.
Body Paragraph 2
Secondly, taxation serves the purpose of wealth redistribution. The tax-free system could exacerbate income inequality as the wealthy could accumulate more wealth. The absence of tax revenue means governments cannot establish social safety networks or social welfare programs to support and assist the less fortunate groups of people, leading to further income gaps and social inequality in many aspects. In this situation, social instability and turmoil are likely to occur.
Body Paragraph 3
I understand the advocates’ argument that individuals have the freedom to keep their wealth in their hands because this represents the fruit of their labor and efforts, while paying tax infringes on their property rights. This is plausible because it neglects the essence of the relationship between citizens and governments. Individuals’ freedom and well-being are reliant on the functioning of society. Without governments and adequate funding, keeping their wealth is like a castle in the air.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while individuals’ rights matter, the idea of not paying tax is ungrounded and unjustifiable when we consider the role of taxation in individual well-being and society’s stability and development.
