Introduction
With ongoing globalization and the impact of new technological changes, international cooperation has delivered significant economic and social progress. However, there are understandable reasons for people to question whether the most pressing issues can only be addressed by cooperation among countries. In my opinion, the need for global forces to tackle urgent challenges depends on the specifics of the issue.
Body Paragraph 1
On the one hand, cooperative efforts are necessary in solving some global challenges. Diplomatic negotiations among nations are necessary to prevent wars and settle disputes peacefully. Multilateral organizations such as the United Nations (UN) are crucial in facilitating such conversations and bringing together different countries’ perspectives. Climate change is another issue which transcends national borders and requires collective efforts from countries worldwide. The Paris Climate Agreement, for instance, is a product of partnership among countries, bringing together all nations to combat climate change and natural disasters.
Body Paragraph 2
However, some constraints hinder international cooperation’s to resolve pressing global issues to a large extent. Countries often prioritize their needs and policies, making it difficult to align their objectives with those of other nations. This results in nations hesitating to cede control or make compromises. Japan’s discharge of treated radioactive water, for example, has made us painfully aware of how fragile the international system is, although UN reports have voiced that the discharge could affect millions of lives and livelihoods in the Pacific region. In this case, it is still being determined whether international cooperation can effectively mitigate and address future pressing crises.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while international cooperation has its merits, it is essential to acknowledge its limitations in tackling the urgent problems worldwide. Meeting these challenges will require promoting better communication, fostering trust and revising the global policy agenda. By doing so, the international community can work towards a more comprehensive and inclusive approach to dealing with urgent global problems.
