Introduction
The bar chart illustrates the change in European vehicle registration of various categories, including private cars, motorbikes, public transport, and trucks, in 1996 and 2006.
Overview
Overall, it is clear from the chart that the registered private cars were significantly more than all other types in both years, and its increase was also the most drastic.
Body paragraph 1
In 1996, approximately 10 million private cars were recorded on the official list, which was by far the largest, while a minimal number of motorbikes, trucks and public transport vehicles were registered, all less than 1 million. Apart from the four categories mentioned above, the registration of other types altogether ranked second, but still, the figure was below 2 million.
Body paragraph 2
After a decade, the private car ownership grew by 59% in 2006, reaching 24 million, and others besides the four particular types followed the same trend, increasing by 25%, but still at a much lower level. On the other hand, motorbikes and trucks experienced a drop of 20% and 40% respectively, while public transport remained the same, thus expanding the gap with private cars.
