The chart below shows the average number of teaching hours by each teacher in different types of schools in four countries in 2001. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Introduction
The bar chart illustrates how many hours teachers taught in primary schools, lower secondary schools and upper secondary schools in Japan, Spain, Ireland and the USA in the year 2001.
Overview
Overall, American teachers had the longest teaching hours in all three schools, while teachers in Japan had the shortest.
Body Paragraph 1
More specifically, Japanese teachers in the three kinds of schools had similar teaching hours, at some 500. Although the numbers in elementary schools and lower secondary schools in Spain were the same as those in Japan, the figure for upper secondary schools in this country was twice higher than that in Japan.
Body Paragraph 2
In Ireland, secondary school teachers spent a similar amount of time teaching, with teachers in each type of school teaching 800 and 795 hours respectively, while for primary school teachers, they only taught 500 hours. In contrast, the teaching hours in American upper secondary schools were 1,200, followed by 900 hours in lower secondary schools and just over 800 hours in primary schools.
