New technologies have changed the way children spend their free time. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Introduction
How children spend their leisure time these days is different from what those children used to do, which is predominantly caused by new technologies. In my opinion, the downsides of this phenomenon prevail over the merits.
Body Paragraph 1
One major disadvantage is that children’s social skills may not be cultivated easily. When children confine themselves to one spot at home without moving a bit, such as watching TV or playing games on electronic devices, they are unlikely to interact with others, especially those of the same age, which prevents them from communicating with their peers to broaden their social circle and exercising their social skills. However, if they free themselves from new technologies, things will be different.
Body Paragraph 2
Another drawback is that children’s physical health can be threatened. When using new technologies, most children are unaware of how to adjust screen display settings, including brightness and text size and contrast. If the screen is too bright or text size is too small, eye strain and fatigue may occur, which damages their eyesight. Meanwhile, exposure to these new technologies for too long can also be detrimental to children’s physical posture because they remain sedentary in front of the screen.
Body Paragraph 3
Despite this, if free time is allocated to new technologies, children can acquire important skills, such as computer skills, which can benefit their future study and work. When they can constantly access the computer, they will become adept in using it. Then they can easily gain the knowledge and information available online, assisting them in accomplishing tasks in studies and at the workplace. Thus, it is important that children learn at an early age to use the equipment with enthusiasm and confidence.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I reiterate that there are more drawbacks than benefits in the way children spend their leisure time. Although playing with new technologies can train children’s computer skills from a young age, it is no substitute for human interaction, and meanwhile, their eyes and body can be adversely impacted.
